So who is Matt Mullenweg?

by Patrick Havens

Hosted on FlickrOK, so I’m starting with a soft ball overview. Most everyone in the Wordpress world knows the founder and lead of Automattic (notice his name in the company), and #2 on the registration list Matt Mullenweg. Anyone who has read Matt’s blog PhotoMatt, knows he’s a great lover of Jazz, Wordpress and Technology in general… not in that order.

Reading the history of Wordpress you find that Matt started Wordpress as a successor to b2/cafelog. He decided to work with what was becoming the standard set up, and create an “elegant, well-architectured personal publishing system built on PHP and MySQL and licensed under the GPL.”

Matt himself, you’ll find friendly, likable and really wanting to make sure that Wordpress is both adopted, and really a piece of software that people want because it works. With an eye for simplicity and a manner that allows him to code, do PR and still delegate and let other programmers do what needs to be done. I think you’ll find the lecture he is co-presenting HyperDB and High Performance WordPress to be interesting.

I know that this is short, but this is how I want this series of posts to be. Nothing but a short quick post to know the people who are coming.
