For those traveling from the Bay Area

by Patrick Havens

I know that most in the Bay Area have at one time or other taken one of the Mass Transit services. But I figured to post some links, since I just spent a bit today debating different options to get to the Dinner tonight, and the Conference this weekend.

Luckily the Swedish American Hall is close to both a BART station (like 3-4 blocks) and a MUNI trolley stop is also right out in front. And for the dinenr at the Ferry Building, the Ferries of course drop off right there, plus there are a multitude of other options from MUNI, CALTRAIN & BART (to Embarcadero and walk down) besides the FERRY. So below are some links if you want to see what works for you.

Of course a good main source of transit options.

BART: http://www.bart.gov
So far the cheapest way to get around the Bay Area, it is also the fastest in some cases

FERRIES - A lot drop right off at the Ferry Building, its nice an relaxed.
Alameda Harbor Bay Ferry
Alameda/Oakland Ferry
Angel Island/Tiburon Ferry
Blue & Gold Fleet
Golden Gate Ferry
Vallejo Baylink Ferry

MUNI: http://www.sfmta.com/cms/home/sfmta.sfmta
San Francisco has a number of trolleys (of different types) running all over, so you should be able to connect multiple services very easy.

Finally as a side, if anyone from the North Bay was planning on taking BART, speak up. :-)

Unfortunately, I can’t get into the Bay Area until like 10AM Saturday. I’m flying into Oakland so I can take the train across into the City - thanks for the links.

Actually, if you’re coming from the Peninsula, Caltrain is probably a cheaper alternative. Take Caltrain to the San Francisco 4th & King, then transfer to the Muni Metro T-Outbound (do NOT take the N). Get off at the Church station, then walk half a block southwest.
